458th Transportation Army PBRs and more!

My first tour of duty in Vietnam was in the 1099th Medium Boat Company from Jun 65 until Aug 66.  Our mission was to haul cargo up and down the rivers of the MeKong Delta.  I served as a crewmember and then became a skipper an LCM 8.  My second tour of duty in Vietnam was from Aug 68 until Aug 69 with the 458th PBR.  I was the NCOIC at the Cat Lai out port and was incharge of 5 PBRs.  Our mission was to provide security on the rivers in and around the Saigon area, escort vessels up and down the rivers to Ammo points and set ambushes along the rivers we patrolled.  My third tour in Vietnam was from Aug 71 until Nov 72.  I worked in the retrograde yard at Cam Rahn Bay returning equipment to the US for salvage or repair.  I retired from the Army after 21 ½ years as an SFC E7.
